Integration overview

The ClickTime OData Source lets you connect Tableau Desktop or Tableau Cloud directly to the ClickTime OData v4 API facade, linking your labor cost data straight into your BI environment with no custom integration development required.

ClickTime requirements

  • Active ClickTime account
  • A valid ClickTime API v2 token

Tableau

  • Tableau Desktop installed, or access to a Tableau Cloud site
  • The ClickTime OData service URL
1

Connect without custom development

Tableau's built-in OData connector reads directly from the ClickTime API facade — no scripts, middleware, or engineering time required to get data flowing.

2

Query only what you need

Standard OData operations like $filter, $select, and $orderby let you scope large entity sets — such as Time Entries — down to what your dashboard actually needs.

3

Stay within existing permissions

Your ClickTime API token authenticates the connection, so data access in Tableau matches your existing ClickTime permissions.

Connecting and Testing in Tableau

Once you have your token and service URL, the connection is set up entirely from Tableau's Connect pane.

  • Open Tableau Desktop or Tableau Cloud and select OData from the connector list
  • Enter the ClickTime OData service URL as the Server
  • Choose Username and Password authentication
  • Enter clicktime as the Username, and your ClickTime API Token as the Password
  • Click Sign In to retrieve the metadata
  • Drag an entity set (e.g., TimeEntries) into the canvas to confirm data loads correctly
