Clicktime-security
With the recent spate of hacks and account intrusions, privacy and security are especially hot topics right now. When you entrust a company with your data, you expect that data to be kept securely. At ClickTime, we take the storage and access of your data very seriously. Here are a few of the steps we’ve taken to ensure your data and traffic security.

Secure Browsing

One simple step you can take towards securing your data is requiring communication to go through an encrypted channel. The easiest way to do this is to use a URL beginning with https:// instead of http://. We support SSL (the s in https), and require that all sensitive traffic (such as logins or payment information) be transmitted securely.

Data Leaks

It’s not uncommon to come across news stories about companies being hacked, resulting in data, like email addresses, passwords, and credit card numbers, being leaked. The headaches such thefts cause customers and the companies involved is staggering, and while no company can guarantee imperviousness to attacks, there are steps that can be taken to reduce “attack surfaces” and mitigate the damage that follows a leak.

One such step we take is by encrypting all sensitive data we store with a secure password hashing algorithm. A hashing algorithm works like a machine that takes an input (like a password) and scrambles it in a non-reversible way. This means an attacker has to spend a lot of resources guessing in order to retrieve your password. For us, it’s important that even under the unlikely scenario of a data leak, our customers’ data remains unreadable to the public.

Single Sign-On (SSO)

If you are concerned about password security in general, it may be worth looking into options for single sign-on. Single sign-on describes logging into a third-party application (such as ClickTime) using, for example, your Google login information. This approach takes password storage out of the hands of ClickTime, and relies on a trusted third-party such as Google and others.

So whether it’s Excel linking, logging time with our mobile app, or just simply logging in, you can be sure that we here at ClickTime are working hard to keep your data safe. We go to great lengths to make sure companies can see only their own data, and that that data is kept safe and sound.
